ABOUT TURNING POINTE SCHOOL OF BALLET

The Turning Pointe School of Ballet began with just a handful of students in 2005 in Borrisokane. In the same year, the school put on its first ballet show, The Enchanted Toyshop in the Clarke Memorial Hall.

The school began classes in Killaloe and Roscrea the following year and held its first Royal Academy of Dance examination session with half the candidates receiving Distinctions.

Students have the opportunity to take Irish Board of Dance Performance examinations at all levels, and Royal Academy of Dance examinations at Higher and Vocational levels.

Students have the opportunity of taking Royal Academy of Dance examinations, both Graded and Vocational Levels. Vocational examinations are by invitation only, and are for students interested in a dance related career. Students are also encouraged to take part in master classes, intensives and auditions. Turning Pointe students have been accepted into Irish National Youth Ballet (Junior & Senior Companies), Youth Ballet West, Shawbrook Youth Dance, The Inchicore College of Further Education, and The College of Dance, Dublin.  They have also placed in the Irish National Dance Awards and received scholarships to the Institute of Dance Summer Intensive and Shawbrook Summer School.
